Believe it or not these images were actually commissioned illustrations. I incorporated a lot of personal iconography into the image. The first image is the cover and the second is interior art for Munroe Effect's debut album.

NYC SHOW TIME

My recent series has been about releasing energy. In most cases it's negative energy. This particular painting is inspired by the ideas of forgiveness and rebirth. You will see this image reappear in future paintings.

I've been thinking about the military industrial complex lately. I've also been working on the idea of "release" in some of my current paintings. The "release" is going to be different in each series. Though these particular paintings can be read in several ways the overall theme is "war". I don't like over explaining my paintings so I hope that's enough. You can expect more soon.

I just received my copy of Munroe Effect's new 7 inch. Munroe Effect is a UK band which hired me to do some cover art for them. I finished art for their second 7 inch a couple months back and will be working on at least one more in the near future.

Here's a little description from Munroe Effect's website: although the name was chosen by pure co-incidence, the scientific meaning of munroe effect turns out to be quite relevant - this portsmouth-based quartet deal in a live performance that tears through your defences with a relentless agression delivered by an onslaught of jagged guitars, and a rhythm section based on a battering ram. however, once positioned in the centre of your attention, emotionally-loaded passages of epic noise and abrupt jazz interludes will spread through your body and secure them in your conciousness on a permanent basis.

I'm currently in a show where most of the nerve imagery is being used. The central nervous system is representative of the American media in these pieces. I like carrying motifs from previous paintings into new ones. This one in particular uses a similar composition to the cotton candy octopus water images I've created before.

Vision Trees

I've been living more in the moment lately. I try to enjoy everyday and every moment as much as possible. Two years ago I would always think of my past and constantly worry about the future. It left me in limbo. Some growth occurred but it was incremental. These paintings are dedicated to personal growth and individuality. I still have my eye on the future but am willing to flex, bend, and branch out in order to pursue my bliss.

My work has always had a sense of history through the surface. I painted my trees on vintage envelopes which taps into the history element. They measure 8.5" x 13.5". gouache and ink.

I've been thinking about this painting for a while and finally had time to work on it. I tend to question everything. I have a tattoo that says "Cynic" in an Old English typeface on my left buttock. There is a lot of symbolism in this image. I'm not going to explain it all. I want the viewer to read into this in their own way. Acrylic on wood panel 44 inches x 18.5 inches

Hat Project

Here is a series of personal paintings I did last week. I painted them on old encyclopedias that I found. I sealed the books and painted over them. I thought the hat theme tied in with the books. The idea of covering something up remains with the paintings. I really wanted the faces to push back and allow the hats to tell the story.

Cotton Candy Octopus Water

This is a remake of a previous painting I did a while back with the same theme. A personal friend commissioned me to recreate this image due to the fact that I already sold the original Cotton Candy Octopus Water. I think it is a vast improvement based on the size. This version is much larger and I think it's a bit more rendered than the original.
